Activities

A wide range of watersports is available in the bay including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and water skiing.  The beautiful golden beach along the Moray Firth is excellent for walking.  There are many possibilities for cycling including a cycle path to Forres 5 miles away. Golf courses and swimming pools are within easy reach at Forres and Kinloss. There is a bowling green and tennis club in the village open to all.

There are excellent opportunities for fishing for sea trout (finnock) in the bay and salmon in the Findhorn River.

The cottage has an ideal location for birdwatching . The bay and the surrounding area is an important site for birdlife throughout the year. It is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) and a listed Ramsar site of international importance. Ospreys are usually seen every day April to August, and during autumn and winter the bay is home to large numbers of wintering waders, ducks and geese. Nearby Culbin Forest provides good opportunities to see forest birds like crested tits and crossbills. The RSPB Culbin Sands reserve is few miles away next to the Culbin Forest.

There are excellent opportunities to spot wildlife.  Seals are daily visitors to the bay and large numbers of them can be seen basking on the sand banks at the mouth of the Findhorn River.  It is an easy drive to see dolphins at Spey Bay or Chanonry Point.

Village information

There is a good general store in the village which has a post office and internet access. The village also has a pub, hotel and two cafes.

A bus service runs every hour to Forres and Elgin connecting with Aberdeen and Inverness. Aberdeen is 80 miles away and Inverness is 40 miles away. Both have airports.
